Over the past few years, many video and still camera manufacturers have begun using CMOS image sensors as a replacement to traditional CCD image sensors in their digital imaging products.
Both technologies have advantages and disadvantages. One of the key advantages of CMOS technology is that CMOS sensors can be produced with high pixel count, with very good sensitivity at a lower production cost cost than CCD.
