Sony PDW700 XDCAM HD 422 Camcorder Production Kit
The PDW-700 captures stunning HD images. It features three newly developed 2/3-inch progressive Power HAD FX CCDs at 1920 x 1080 resolution. 14-bit A/D conversion and advanced digital signal processing are also used to ensure the highest picture quality. The PDW-700 records at a data rate of up to 50Mb/s using an MPEG-2 4:2:2P@HL compression technology called MPEG HD422.

The HDVF-C35W, 3.5-inch HD LCD colour viewfinder provides crisp, clear images from its full colour TFT-LCD display. By using a uniquely designed detachable eyepiece, camera operators can clearly view images from various positions and angles. In addition, the LCD display provides a wide viewing angle, so that a number of people can view the same picture at the same time. The viewfinder features an aspherical lens in the eyepiece, to reduce aberration at each corner of the viewfinder image for more precise focusing.

Control buttons, input and output, monitor stand are all combined with the LCD panel to achieve an all-in-one design. The PDW-HD1500 will record and replay XDCAM HD 50 Mb/s 4:2:2 data onto 50 GB Dual-layer Professional Disc. With interfaces including i.LINK and Ethernet, the PDW-HD1500 can operate at the heart of small or large scale file-based networked systems. VTR-like JOG/shuttle operation and video interfaces including HD-SDI and SD-SDI also makes the PDW-HD1500 ideal for operation in more traditional vide-based installations. The PDW-HD1500 has been designed to increase the appeal of XDCAM HD for high-end applications such as drama, documentary and natural history and for mainstream entertainment programmes that required a prestige quality look. File-based acquisition onto Professional Disc, with thumbnail and proxy operation will also make the PDW-HDW-1500 ideal for networked applications where speed of production is a critical.

The PDW-U1 extends the IT credentials of XDCAM by offering a simple and portable drive that can be used with a PC or Mac for viewing purposes (using free Sony software) or full read/write* access with a compatible NLE. The PDW-U1 also supports the use of Dual Layer XDCAM media. Recording onto Dual Layer discs (50GB) is a feature of a range of new Sony products, including the PDW-F355 and PDW-F335 XDCAM HD camcorders, and the PDW-F75 XDCAM HD deck.
