I have just looked through the manual of the Sony HXRMC2500 camera and I can’t find a reference to a night shot feature (High-gain, monochromatic). It does have night scene but this is not the same and is best for static shots like the exterior of a building at night. The cheapest camera we have that offers nightshot is the sony PXWX70.
You can connect the Atomos Records such as the Inferno and Shinobi with an Atomos DC to D-Tap cable, however it does not come standard in the box.
The PMW-F3 is equipped with a Super 35mm sensor, which is the same size as Super 35mm film and has been specifically developed for digital cinematography. Its positioning within the chassis is exactly the same as it would be within a 35mm film camera--ensuring exactly the same optical performance with the unrivalled range of 35mm cine lenses. In addition, Sony's advanced accumulated sensor technologies provide an excellent sensitivity of F11 (ISO 800) and a remarkable signal-to-noise ratio of just 63dB (measured at 1080/59.94i and typical value). A unique Exmor sensor offers exceptional noise reduction and greatly reduces power consumption.
The PMW-F3 is supplied with a PL mount adapter to provide immediate compatibility with the huge range of filmic 35mm lenses, including prime, digital cinematography and even still lenses. There are also hot shoe electric interfaces for Cooke/i and ARRI LDS.
Sony has begun to introduce zoom lenses that are directly compatible with the F3's FZ mount, beginning with an 18-252mm model (the SCL-Z18X140, sold separately). Zoom lens compatibility expands the operational flexibility of the F3 so it can be used for almost any application.
An RGB 4:4:4 1080 23.98/25/29.97PsF signal is available over an HD-SDI dual-link or 3G-SDI output, allowing the use of an external recorder such as the SR-R1 Memory Recorder for high-quality output for VFX tasks such as chroma-key, compositing, and CGI.
S-Log mode is available with wide dynamic range (800%) for the RGB 4:4:4 10-bit signal.
LUTs can be applied to the HD-SDI output and to SxS recording off-line. User-defined LUTs (created by Sony's CVP file editor) can be loaded to the camera from an SxS card. LUTs can be used for off-line editing with SxS-recorded content. You can transfer user-defined LUTs from one camera to another for easy setup.
Without applying a LUT, uncorrected S-Log footage looks "flat" and washed out. Pre-loaded LUTs allow you to correct for this, so you can properly monitor on-set. The F3's S-Log gamma mode lets you retain maximum dynamic range from shadow details to highlights and employs exactly the same S-Log workflow as used for high-end products such as the F35 camera.
The PMW-F3 is the first compact camcorder to be a member of the legendary Sony CineAlta family. It offers native 25p* recording which, in combination with advanced creative features such as selectable gamma curves, makes this camcorder ideal for cinema production.
*In 1440 x 1080/25p (SP) mode, images are handled as 23.98p and recorded as 50i signals via 2:3 pull-down.
The PMW-F3 offers a powerful Slow & Quick Motion function--commonly known as overcranking and undercranking in film shooting. This enables users to create unique looks or special effects with slow- and fast-motion images, and can be selected on the control dial on the side of the camcorder. The PMW-F3 can capture images at frame rates selectable from 1 frame per second (fps) to 60 fps in 720p mode, and from 1 fps to 30 fps in 1080p mode--in increments of 1 fps--onto a single card. With the Slow & Quick Motion function of this camcorder, images are recorded natively without interpolating the frames. This means the quality of the slow- and fast-motion images is extremely high and superior to those created in the editing process. In addition, these slow -and fast- motion images can be played back immediately after shooting, without using any converters or processing on nonlinear editing systems.
In addition to HD recording, high-quality audio is an equally significant feature in the XDCAM EX system. The PMW-F3 camcorder records and plays back high-quality, two-channel 16-bit, 48-kHz linear PCM uncompressed audio.
The PMW-F3 is part of Sony's highly successful XDCAM EX product family, which supports a high speed nonlinear workflow. With XDCAM EX, recordings are made as data files in the MP4 format, which is widely used in a number of recent electronic portable devices and has been standardized by ISO. File-based recording allows material to be handled with great flexibility in an IT-based environment--easily available for copying, transferring, sharing, and archiving. All these operations are accomplished without any digitizing process required. File-based data copying allows for degradation-free dubbing of footage, which can be performed easily on a PC. The file-based recording system also allows for material to be viewed directly on a PC--simply by inserting the SxS memory card into the ExpressCard slot on a PC or Mac, or by linking a PC/Mac to the XDCAM EX unit via a USB2 connection. This file-based operation can dramatically improve the efficiency and quality of your workflow.
The PMW-F3 uses XDCAM EX's proven high-speed, intuitive workflow and offers seamless integration with leading nonlinear editing software. In addition, 10-bit 4:2:2 HD-SDI output opens up hybrid recording possibilities with content simultaneously recorded on internal memory and, in uncompressed form, on a variety of external recording devices. The Dual Link HD-SDI option enables 10-bit 4:4:4 RGB 23.98/25/29.97PsF or 10-bit 4:2:2 108050p/59.94p uncompressed external recording--ideal for integration with highest quality production workflows such as HDCAM SR. The PMW-F3 also supports selectable gamma, four levels of HyperGamma and S-Log for a wide range of shooting conditions from standard to wide latitude. The PMW-F3 can simultaneously record LUT (Look Up Table) information onto the internal media for additional workflow flexibility. 3G-SDI is available for 10-bit RGB 1080 23.98/25/29.97PsF or 10-bit 4:2:2 1080 50/59.94p output.
Both SxS PRO and SxS-1A memory cards use the PCI Express interface to achieve an extremely high data-transfer speed of 800 Mbps - 1.2Gbps, and can resist considerable shock (1500G) and vibration (15G). Also, a unique Salvage function can restore content damaged by power loss or memory disconnection during recording. In addition, with an optional MEAD-MS01 or MEAD-SD01 Media Adapter, a high-speed Memory Stick or SD memory card can be used as emergency or alternative recording media. (Slow Motion and the Salvage function are not supported.)
Yes, you can connect the OMNI to any standard tripod with a 1/4 inch screw. Just make sure it can handle the weight of the rig and cameras. You can also mount the OMNI on a Manfrotto light stand to maximise the field of view, but make sure you get shotbags to secure the stand.
The Canon C500 cannot record the 4K signal internally to the Compact Flash cards. An external recorder available from companies such as Convergent Design, Codex and AJA is required to record the 4K signal.
The lens mount is fixed and cannot be changed between Canon EF or PL mounts by the user.

Canon uses a proprietary format to encode the RAW signal called .rtf The .rtf format is then processed using the Cinema RAW Development (CRD) program supplied by Canon. CRD converts the rtf files into dpx file format which can be used in editing and colour grading software and for transcoding to other formats.
Hi Jim,
The GoPro Hero4 Silver and Hero 4 Black cameras do not have any internal memory, they rely on SD cards (specifically MicroSD Cards) to provide the memory, so it is up to you as to how much memory you want the camera to have.
The record time you get will be a combination of the size of the memory card you have and the recording format you choose.
Here are a couple of links from the go pro website, the first providing a guide for recording times, and the second recommended SD cards to buy.
http://gopro.com/support/articles/hero4-silver-recording-time-in-each-video-setting
http://gopro.com/support/articles/software-update-release
In addition, the recording time is also dependent on the Gopro Hero 4 Battery, which typically lasts up to 2 hours*. There are alternative battery options such as the GoPro Hero 4 Dual Battery Charger with Battery and the GoPro LCD Touch BacPac for HERO4
You will need a Rode SC3 cable and Smartlav+ lavalier to plug into the transmitter of the Rode Wireless go

The Sony PXWFS5 records to SD cards so while it can record High Frame Rates, it is restricted by the size of the camera buffer, an example is 8 seconds at 200fps.
The Sony PXWFS7 records on XQD cards which have far higher write speeds than even the best SD cards, so you can shoot at a continuous 100fps on an FS7 until your cards fill up.
Regarding lenses, Both the Sony PXWFS5K Kit and PXWFS7K kit are available, however they both come with very different lenses. The FS5 kit features an 18-105mm f/4 lens that is very versatile and lightweight. The FS7 kit features an incredible but hefty 28-135mm f/4 lens. The Sony PXWFS5K Kit is designed to be easily handheld for run & gun shooting, while the PXWFS7K kit is destined for a shoulder mount or kept on a tripod.

At this stage the BMCC 2.5K camera can not record interlaced frame rates. The 2.5K camera only records the progressive frame rates of 23.98p, 24p, 25p, 29.97p, and 30p.
Yes, the BMCC 4K accepts balanced mic or line level analogue audio. Balanced analogue audio is how most video cameras accept an audio signal. Instead of the typical XLR connectors, Black Magic have chosen 1/4" TRS jacks, which are a bigger version of the 3.5mm jacks usually used as a headphone output on consumer products.
Yes, it is possible to buy replacement foam for all Pelican cases, as well as other inserts like the padded divider sets. Check the essential accessories section to see what options are available for this product.
Yes, the WRR861 receiver is compatible with the WRR860 transmitter.
The Blackmagic Ursa Mini EF 4K does not come with a lens, however has an E-Mount lens adapter. We would recommend the Canon EF 24-105 Cine lens and the Canon EF 24-70 lens.
Yes, you can add an HDMI input to the Atomos Samurai using the HDMI to SDI Connect converter. This would allow connection of a Canon 5D Mark III that is running Firmware 1.2.1 or higher. This firmware enabled the 5D to output an uncompressed HDMI signal.
The Teradek Bolt Pro receiver or transmitter can be powered from a number of different options via the 2-pin Lemo power connectors.
The receiver is shipped with a 2-pin Lemo to D-Tap cable which would allow it to be powered from a camera or battery with D-Tap out. Alternatively, Teradek have a number of pre-made battery plates that allow powering from popular Sony, Canon and Panasonic batteries.
The Bolt Pro receiver can be powered from an optional V-lock battery plate or from a 2-pin Lemo to A/C adaptor. As you can see, Teradek have made powering the Bolt Pro a snap using common connectors and battery options.

The camera is supplied with one CGA-D54s/1H battery which is rated for 39Wh. The camera has a draw of 12.9W, so the battery should last about 3 hours in ideal conditions. However, battery life is dependent on many factors. For example, Panasonic prints the following caution in the AC90 manual:
"The battery used in this unit is a rechargeable
lithium-ion battery. It is susceptible to humidity
and temperature and the effect increases the
more the temperature rises or falls. In cold
areas, the full charge indication may not appear
or the low battery indication may appear about
5 minutes after starting use. At high
temperatures, the protection function may be
triggered, making it impossible to use the unit."
This camera is a body only so does not work out of the box as a kit. It requires a battery plate, lens, viewfinder, shoulder kit and batteries. There is a kit version of the Ursa Mini Pro that is good to go out the box, except for the batteries and lens and media.
Global Shutter has been removed from the specification of the URSA Mini 4.6K. Global shutter is only available on the URSA MIni 4K Model. The URSA MIni 4.6K still has the advantage of the 15 stops of wide dynamic range and high frame rate capabilities of the rolling shutter, which best suits high end digital film work.
We don’t stock this Canon WMV1 mic, however it is usually available to ship within 5-7 days from order. Here’s a link to the mic

The Teradek Bolt 2000 is not strictly a line-of-sight system, though generally the best performance will be found via line of sight. In open ground it can operate through and around minor obstructions such as cars and trees, even interior walls. However in most conditions it is unlikely to directly penetrate entire buildings or even particularly solid exterior walls. Like all wireless systems it’s performance is variable depending on local conditions and antenna choice and placement. Please note that the maximum range figures given by manufacturers are theoretical best case scenarios, and “real world” performance will almost always be somewhere below these marks.
Cases come in two main types - soft case and hard case.
Soft cases are generally light and compact. They typically come in two styles: Shoulder bag or backpack. We sell the Kata and Cinebags range of soft cases. We would recommend the Kata CC191 or the CineBags Skinny Jimmy shoulder bags for the HXR-NX30P.
Hard cases offer more protection, but tend to be bulky and heavy in comparison to a soft case. We would recommend the Pelican 1400 as the smallest case that will fit the HXR-NX30P and its standard accessories. Size up accordingly depending on the number of accessories you intend to carry.
No, the CB40 is too big for domestic or international carry-on, based on the latest information from Qantas, Jetstar and Virgin (31/3/2014).

Yes, the Atomos Ninja Blade would be compatible with the Blackmagic Pocket Camera. The Pocket Camera can record in the same ProRes 422(HQ) codec as the Ninja, but can record lossless CinemaDNG RAW, which the Ninja cannot.
The Ninja can record in the Avid DNxHD codec, which the Pocket Camera cannot.
Yes, after consulting witrh Sony, their engineer said ti should work as the F65 uses the same 20 pin analogue connector used on the HXC/PDW cameras.
The Sachtler 25P can handle a weight range of 8-35kgs. A typical F65 camera package weighs around 12-15kg and as much as 25kgs depending on lens weight and size. However, the ability of the 25P to handle that weight range will depend on the configuration of the camera.
For instance the F65 with a Canon 30-300mm lens, Arri 6X6 mattebox and dual v-lock batteries weighs 25kgs, which is wiithin the weight range of the 25P. However, it does not counter-balance properly. If you imagine the rig as a lever with the tripod as the fulcrum, a long rig like this would place most of the weight within a short distance of the fulcrum, which would need to be counterbalanced by a smaller weight placed further away from the fulcrum.
When you tilted up or down, the counter balance needed would be different. Typically counter-balance works best if the weight is more or less equally split front and back. The only way to balance a longer rig like the example given is to move to a tripod with a bigger fulcrum such as the O'Connor 2575.
No, the Pocket Camera does not include a lens. A range of Micro 4/3 lenses can be found here:
The GH4 requires a new class of SD card to record 4K reliably, as indicated on the chart below. The card needs to have a speed rating of UHS3, which is different from the UHS-1 class 10 and 6 cards typically used to record HD. Panasonic released three new UHS3 cards at the launch of the GH4.Click Here For More Info

The JVC HM620 is a very recent model from JVC, and is quite feature packed. It does have a LANC remote terminal, which would give you control of remote start/stop, zoom, focus and iris (depending on the controller used). Yes, it does have separate Zoom, focus and iris rings.
Yes. The Ursa Mini SSD Recorder is now compatible with the Ursa mini PRO and Ursa Mini 4K models with Ver 4.9 Firmware Update installed.
The Sony ECM673 Mic would be perfect for your HVRZ1P. It includes a 50cm XLR cable and a rubber spacer to stop it wobbling around in the cameras mic holder. You could also consider an ECMVG1 but the ECM673 is nicer.
The JVC GY-HM850E records to media in 4:2:0 sampling, 8 bit depth. The 35 Mbit MPEG-2 long GOP codec in these cameras is basically the same as the 35 Mbit XDCAM EX codec used in the Sony PMWEX1/EX3 cameras, which does give good image quality. The 50 Mbit XHQ mode does 50Mbit H.264, also with 4:2:0 component sampling and 8 bit depth. This is a separate question to how the camera processes the images off the camera head itself, which is a higher bit depth and higher chroma sampling rate. The JVC HM 890E is the same.
The Rode Videomicro is designed to work on DSLR cameras with a cold shoe and a 3.5mm TRS mic input. We don’t supply Nikon so I can’t give you specific info on that camera but I can see no reason why it wouldn’t work.
The Sony PXWFS5 with the lens is expected to be selling for 9K and will be confirmed in late November when it's expected to ship. The Sony PXWFS5 can take all the lenses that the Sony PXWFS7 can take, and with a metabones adapter, most Canon and Samyang lenses will fit.
The Sony PXWFS5 will perform well in low light conditions with 14 stops of latitude and wide colour gamut, and is definitely suitable for weddings. The Sony EF 28-135 lens that comes with the Sony FS5K Kit will perform suitably.
No, the PXWZ100 does not come with a copy of Vegas Pro included.
Yes, the HXRMC1500P includes a USB cable to transfer files directly from the camera to a computer.
The HVRZ1P comes with a fixed 12X optical zoom that cannot be removed. This lens has the equivalent 35mm focal lengths of 32.5mm to 390mm. Additional wide angle or telephoto converters can be rented to alter these focal lengths as needed.
