New Digital Cinematography camera which utilizes New 20 Megapixel Super 35mm CMOS imager, whose active image area is 24.7mm X 13.1mm. F65 camera has an integral PL mount which is standard for Film cameras. ARRI and Cooke Lens interface data and Metadata are recorded on SR Memory recorder.

F65 camera has base sensitivity of 800EI. In this mode you have 7 stops latitude over key and 7 stops under providing phenomenal Dynamic Range. F65 covers a wider color space over any other digital cameras. This allows more headroom for color grading and future proof camera original material.

The Rotary shutter has range of 11.5 degrees to 180 degrees. This eliminates CMOS motion artifacts. F65/RS also outputs shutter pulse for 3D /Motion Control rig application. With the rotary shutter you also have Built in ND filters of 0.9, 1.2, 1.5 and 1.8.

In the viewfinder and monitor output from the camera, X2 and X4 magnification can be enabled for critical focusing.

Ergonomics of the camera allows use of film accessories without any modification to the camera.

When camera is used in 16bit RAW File mode (Digital Negative), in POST one can render multiple resolutions such as:- 4K Cinema (4096 X 2160) 3840 X 2160 2K Cinema HDTV

  • Will the Sachtler 25P system support the Sony Cinealta F65 Camera?

The Sachtler 25P can handle a weight range of 8-35kgs. A typical F65 camera package weighs around 12-15kg and as much as 25kgs depending on lens weight and size. However, the ability of the 25P to handle that weight range will depend on the configuration of the camera.

For instance the F65 with a Canon 30-300mm lens, Arri 6X6 mattebox and dual v-lock batteries weighs 25kgs, which is wiithin the weight range of the 25P. However, it does not counter-balance properly. If you imagine the rig as a lever with the tripod as the fulcrum,  a long rig like this would place most of the weight within a short distance of the fulcrum, which would need to be counterbalanced by a smaller weight placed further away from the fulcrum.

When you tilted up or down, the counter balance needed would be different. Typically counter-balance works best if the weight is more or less equally split front and back. The only way to balance a longer rig like the example given is to move to a tripod with a bigger fulcrum such as the O'Connor 2575.

  • Does the HDVFC730W work with a Sony Cinealta F65 Camera?

Yes, after consulting witrh Sony, their engineer said ti should work as the F65 uses the same 20 pin analogue connector used on the HXC/PDW cameras.
