Canon CR-N400 4K 12G-SDI NDI PTZ Camera (Black)

The Canon CR N400 is a 4K PTZ camera in a black finish for professional streaming and multi-camera production. It uses a 1/2.3 inch CMOS sensor, DIGIC DV7 processing, Hybrid AF and a 20x optical zoom to capture clear 4K60p or oversampled HD output. With SDI, HDMI, IP and USB workflows, it suits studios, education, corporate events, worship spaces and broadcast environments.

Imaging and Autofocus

The 1/2.3 inch CMOS sensor and DIGIC DV7 processor support 4K60p recording and oversampled HD for detailed 1080p output. Hybrid AF provides fast and reliable focus with face, eye and head detection to maintain accuracy during subject movement.

Lens and Stabilisation

The 20x optical zoom offers a 35mm equivalent range of 29.3 to 601 mm and up to 40x Advanced Zoom in HD. Optical Image Stabilisation keeps footage steady and a motorised ND filter gives exposure control for changing lighting conditions.

Connectivity and Control

Professional interfaces include 12G SDI, 3G SDI, HDMI, genlock, timecode, USB C, PoE plus, a 3.5 mm input and dual XLR inputs. Control options include IP, Serial, IR, Canon XC Protocol, Standard Protocol, NDI HX2, SRT, RTMP, RTMPS, RTSP, RTP and FreeD integration for virtual production. USB UVC enables use as a high quality webcam up to 1080p60.

Social and Multi Format Output

Vertical crop mode produces a real time 9 to 16 stream alongside the main program output. HDR recording is supported in PQ or HLG with Canon Log 3 and Wide Dynamic Range to match other Canon cameras.

Pan Tilt Performance

The drive system provides smooth movement with variable speeds from 0.1 to 100 degrees per second and faster preset options. Thumbnail recall for presets and trace movements simplifies live operation.

Applications and Automation

Built in Auto Tracking Lite offers basic subject tracking. Optional paid applications add advanced Auto Tracking and Auto Loop features. Auto Loop repeats programmed PTZ moves with smooth acceleration and deceleration for consistent camera motion.

Workflow and Management

The RCCA allows control of up to 20 cameras with live previews and full PTZ adjustments. The MCMA manages up to 200 units for monitoring, assignment, backup and firmware updates. The Color Matching app aligns the CR N400 with other Canon and third party cameras for consistent output.

Webcam and Network Options

Canon’s Webcam Driver lets the CR N400 function as a network based webcam for conferencing or production workflows without a capture device. SRT, NDI HX2 and adaptive bitrate options support reliable streaming performance.
