The Atomos Sumo PRO-19 4K HDR Monitor-Recorder and Switcher combines a calibrated 19-inch HDR display with professional 4K recording, quad switching, and network streaming capabilities in a single production-ready unit. Designed for cinematographers, focus pullers, and post-production colorists, this monitor-recorder handles everything from on-set HDR preview and ISO recording to studio grading workflows, with support for raw formats up to 8K resolution on compact SSD media.
On-Set Monitoring and Recording
The Sumo PRO-19 delivers real-time HDR conversion from log or raw camera signals, letting you see the full dynamic range of your footage while shooting. Built-in waveform, vectorscope, focus peaking, and EL Zone false colour tools give you accurate exposure and focus control on location. Record 8K, 6K, 4K, UHD, 2K, or 1080p raw directly to CFexpress or USB-C storage, creating instant dailies without additional equipment. The 48 cm (19-inch) screen provides enough detail for critical focus work, while the bright 1200 cd/m² panel remains visible in direct sunlight.
Live Switching and Multi-Camera Recording
AtomOS quad switching lets you monitor, switch, and record up to four ISO channels simultaneously, capturing resolutions up to 8K30 on the program output. This eliminates the need for separate switchers and recorders in small multi-camera productions. Quad 3G-SDI, 6G-SDI, and 12G-SDI inputs simplify connectivity without external converters, and HDMI 2.0 support means you can work with both broadcast SDI and consumer HDMI cameras in the same setup.
Network Integration and Cloud Workflows
Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi 6E connectivity enable NDI|HX3 monitoring for low-latency IP video streams, while AirGlu wireless timecode over Bluetooth and RF keeps all cameras synced. Upload directly to camera-to-cloud services including Atomos ATOMOSphere, Adobe Frame.io, and Dropbox, so your footage reaches editors and clients without waiting for physical media transfers. The separately available Atomos TX wireless transmission system extends this connectivity to remote camera positions.
Professional Codecs and Recording Formats
Capture in industry-standard ProRes RAW, ProRes RAW HQ, 10-bit Apple ProRes, DNxHR, or H.265, with bit rates optimised for post-production efficiency. CFexpress Type B media provides sustained write speeds for high-resolution raw recording, and rapid offload to editing systems. You can also record directly to external USB-C storage when working with longer takes or when immediate backup is required.
Remote Camera Control
Touchscreen control gives you access to start/stop, ISO, shutter speed, aperture, white balance, and touch-to-focus for supported Canon, Fujifilm, Nikon, Panasonic, and Sony mirrorless cameras. This is particularly useful when cameras are rigged in difficult-to-reach positions or when you need to adjust settings without physically accessing the camera body. HDMI 2.0 with Atomos open protocol supports HDR automation and automatic import of camera settings.
3D LUT Preview and Monitoring Tools
Load custom .cube LUT files from CFexpress or USB-C storage to preview log footage with accurate colour grading applied in real time. The monitor converts log signals to Rec. 709 or HDR (PQ/HLG) previews, so directors and clients can see the intended final look on set. Built-in monitoring tools, including false colour, waveform, RGB parade, and vectorscope, overlay on the preview for precise exposure control while maintaining creative intent.
XLR Audio Input
Full-size XLR connections provide balanced analogue audio input with phantom power for external microphones, eliminating the need for separate audio recorders. Dedicated audio meters and adjustable frame delay and gain controls ensure synchronised, properly levelled audio recording alongside video.
Calibration for Colour Accuracy
The Sumo PRO-19 supports hardware calibration using Calibrite Display Pro or Display Plus with the separately available Atomos LANC cable (ATOMCAB018). Regular calibration compensates for natural colour and brightness drift over time, ensuring the 10-bit panel maintains colour accuracy throughout its working life. Combined with 10-stop dynamic range, this makes the monitor suitable for critical grading work in post-production studios.
Durable Construction and Mounting Options
The aluminium chassis includes multiple 6.35 mm (1/4"-20) and 9.5 mm (3/8"-16) mounting points on the top, bottom, and sides, a rear 100 x 100 mm VESA mount, and an included stand for versatile rigging configurations. Six programmable front buttons provide instant access to frequently used features such as exposure tools, LUTs, playback modes, and anamorphic desqueeze, reducing menu navigation during production.
Flexible Power Options
The 4-pin XLR input accepts mains power via the included supply, or V-mount and Gold mount battery plates (available separately) can be fitted using the additional 4-pin XLR inputs for dual-battery redundant power in field production. An optional sun hood is available for additional light control when working outdoors.
