The camera features a 12K large-format RGBW 36 x 24 mm sensor, delivering exceptional image quality with 16 stops of dynamic range. Its unique multi-scale design with symmetrical colour filters enables in-sensor scaling, allowing users to shoot in 12K, 8K, or 4K resolutions using the full sensor. This flexibility is ideal for capturing VFX plates in 12K while producing documentaries or other content in 8K or 4K at lower data rates.

The standard EF lens mount can be swapped for optional PL or LPL mounts. Storage options include a dual CFexpress media module, and an 8 TB high-performance media module is available separately. The camera supports shooting at up to 80 fps in 12K, 120 fps in 12K 2.4:1, and 224 fps in 8K 2.4:1. Its high frame rates and advanced Blackmagic colour science make it suitable for demanding film production and visual effects workflows.

Built with a robust magnesium alloy chassis and carbon fibre polycarbonate composite skin, the URSA Cine 12K LF is designed for high-end production environments. The camera features multiple industry-standard connectors, including 12G-SDI outputs, 10G Ethernet, USB-C, and XLR audio, as well as Lemo and Fischer connectors for powering lens motors and other accessories. Monitoring options include a 5-inch HDR touchscreen monitor and an additional external colour status LCD.

The camera supports Blackmagic RAW recording, which preserves colour fidelity and image detail while storing metadata, lens information, and LUTs. It can create small H.264 proxy files alongside original media, facilitating rapid cloud uploads and seamless integration into DaVinci Resolve. The built-in streaming engine allows direct RTMP and SRT streaming via Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or mobile data.
