Canon EOS R8 Mark II Mirrorless Camera Body

Canon EOS R8 Mark II Mirrorless Camera Body is a compact full-frame hybrid for creators capturing stills and video on the move. Its 24.2MP sensor records detailed images and 6K-oversampled 4K 60p 10-bit video, while 40 fps shooting, pre-capture, subject tracking and 7.5-stop in-body stabilisation support fast-moving and handheld work. A vari-angle touchscreen, Canon Log 3 and microphone and headphone connections complete the setup.

Advanced Video Options

Full HD recording is available at up to 180p for slow-motion footage, while Canon Log 3 provides up to 14 stops of dynamic range for more flexible colour grading. HDR video, Canon 709 and BT.709 Standard picture options support workflows ranging from detailed post-production to faster delivery. A front-facing red tally lamp clearly indicates when recording is active.

Subject Recognition and Autofocus

Dual Pixel CMOS AF II covers the entire frame and can recognise people, animals and vehicles during stills and video recording. People Priority can register specific faces and keep focus on them in busy scenes, while detection options include eyes and driver helmets. The system can focus in light levels as low as -7.5 EV.

Viewfinder and Shooting Controls

The 2.36-million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder provides a 100% view and supports refresh rates up to 120 fps. A 3.0-inch, 1.62-million-dot vari-angle touchscreen supports touch-and-drag autofocus control for low, high or front-facing compositions. The built-in multi-controller joystick provides direct control over focus point selection and menu navigation.

Connectivity and Live Production

Connections include USB-C for charging and data transfer, micro-HDMI video output, a stereo microphone input, a stereo headphone output and an E3-type remote terminal. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support wireless control, file transfer and phone-based GPS metadata through the Canon Camera Connect app. USB connectivity also supports webcam operation without additional software, while Canon Live Switcher Mobile integration allows the camera to be used as a source in multi-camera live-switching setups.
